Friday 12 July 2024 1A ASSEMBLY - Food glorious food Last Friday we were so lucky to see Year 1A 's assembly.. What a treat it was!! It all started with their own version of Handa's Surprise called Inayah's Surprise, adapted to our school in London, instead of fruits from Africa as in the original story. The children then showed where the fruits are found on the map of the world. Mr Andrews is certainly improving our mapping skills!

Friday 24 May 2024 Year 1 get Inspired by Klimt We are thrilled to share with you the highlights of an extra busy but exciting week! Your children showcased their talents and hard work in a way that made us all extremely proud, particularly during the OFSTED visit. Their enthusiasm and dedication truly highlighted the best of Year 1! During the week we focused a lot on Art and Science, drawing inspiration from the renowned artist Gustav Klimt. We really enjoyed looking at his beautiful paintings of flowers, and the children had lots of opportunities to draw and paint their own. The results were lovely! The children’s artwork was not only creative but also reflected their understanding of Klimt’s unique style. In our Science lessons this week we learned about deciduous and evergreen trees. The children enjoyed discovering the differences between these types of trees and identifying them from a range of examples. In Maths, we continued our exploration of place value and their progress has been really positive, and we are d

Wednesday 8 November 2023 Year 1 are Celebrating Year 1 kicked off their new topic, Let's Celebrate, by dressing in clothes they would wear to a celebration. It was lovely to see the children show off their different outfits that are worn for celebrations from Eid to birthday parties. Many of the children brought party food and we were able to share where the foods came from and also try some! Thank you to the parents who were able to make or supply food for this special occasion, it really helped us to appreciate different cultures and to understand the role of hospitality in our community, as we were able to share food with other year groups. The children also had the chance to talk about a celebration that they have been part of outside of school and show photos they had brought in from home.
