HEAD TEACHER'S WELCOME
EXPOWERED TO EXPLORE, INSPIRED TO LEARN....
A very warm welcome to South Grove Primary School. Firstly, let me share that I feel very privileged to be the Head Teacher of a school that is full of happy, well-behaved children who are a pleasure to teach. We have extremely dedicated and support staff who work very hard to provide the best opportunities for all our children in the safe and nurturing school environment. Choosing the right primary school for your child can be one of the hardest decisions you have to make.So why choose South Grove?
If you were to come to South Grove, as visitors have told us many times, there is a vibrancy at the school which has an impact on all who visit us. The schools’ distinct atmosphere is a result of a combination of high aspirations, innovation and our commitment to the rights and voice of the child.
South Grove Primary School is a popular, culturally diverse school in Central Walthamstow with 417 (excluding the Nursery) learners on roll including a Special Resourced Provision for children with autism and global delay. The modern two-storey building allows for Year Teams to be taught in their own areas, and specialised facilities such as our IT Suite, Music Studio, Practical Room and Art Studio.
We are passionate about the individuality and inclusivity of all our children and families. At the heart of our school is the children’s holistic learning and development both academically alongside their personal and social wellbeing.
The culture of our school ensures that every individual child is known well and valued. We are a happy, ambitious and inclusive school reflecting the rich diversity of our whole school community. There is a safe and stimulating environment for learning, playing and developing.
The school works in close partnerships with parents and the community within the school and beyond the classroom. With the support of the Governing Body we work hard to meet the needs of individual children and secure high standards.
South Grove is a rights respecting community which promotes active, local and global citizenship. Pupil Voice is strong within the school, believing in empowering children to make decisions about their school and learning, with various groups having an energetic and enthusiastic lead on shaping their school community through their own “Children’s Improvement Plan.’ They champion the rights of learners and strive to provide a better learning climate in the school.
We place a strong emphasis on the performing, music, sports and visual arts. The school offers an enriched curriculum through the International Primary Curriculum, where the children’s heritage is valued and celebrated. We work collaboratively with local and national partners. The school is able to provide a wide range of extra-curricular clubs including drama, dance, gardening, IT, choir, music and a wide range of sporting activities, including football, multi-sports, karate, archery. The school works closely with Waltham Forest Music Services to provide a programme of instrumental lessons on offer to pupils for those with particular interest and ability in music.
At South Grove we are a harmonious school community, have mutual respect and work hard. We are very proud of our children and the people who help them learn and look forward to meeting and nurturing your child through the next phase of their lives. We know that your child and your family will be happy members of our school community.
Ordinarily we would be welcoming you to the school to visit, but are currently offering our virtual tour on the school website and teams meetings arranged. We look forward to meeting with you.
With my very best wishes,
