Take over day report by miss Maltwood (Sam – Y6)
Take Over Day || March 2025
At the beginning of Friday, the school was abundant with astronauts and policemen, explorers and lawyers, artists and more! The school was abounding with children dressed up as who the wanted to be when they grow up.
The experience as Miss Maltwood was exciting, for my day was packed with jobs, and I found it pleasing to be helpful. My accomplices, I think, felt the same about Takeover Day as me, for
Ms McLean (Joel) eagerly accepted any job I gave him.
Overall, the day was fun, and it was exciting to see how adults carried out their jobs.

Here are some examples of the children's applications for the jobs:
Lila Y2 applying to be Ms Monaghan – class TA:
I like teaching children in maths. I think I’d be good at maths because I know a lot and am good at empty number lines and I’m very confident and I like teaching children. I don’t like tea but I do like biscuits. I am very smart but it might be a bit hard to mark the books and reading records but I think I can handle marking.
Sylvia Y4 applying to be Ms Forbes: - Music Teacher
I love music and I want other people to participate in music. I make music in choir together with my friends or play the piano by myself. Music is important to me because it makes me feel calm and happy. Miss Forbes is kind, encouraging and helpful. I hope to use her example to help South Grove learn the best music ever.
Samuel Y6 applying to be Miss Maltwood - Headteacher:
I would be a very fair and inclusive headteacher, with the means of helping every child both to learn and to have fun. I will be open to suggestions and will strive to help the school if I am to be picked. I believe I fit the role of headteacher as I am perseverant and hard-working, with a desire to keep on going. Another aspect of my personality is that I always try to work at 110%, if there is a goal we can smash it, if there is a limit we can break it, that is my mindset. And I believe that if you try your best, if you strive to success, you will always win, be it in spirt or in reality. To conclude I would like to be Miss Maltwood because of that desire to succeed, because of that passion to help and because of that open-mindedness.
Hafsah Y1 applying to be Ms White – Playleader:
I am very active. I am good at leading a class. I am good at motivating. I never get tired so I can keep up with everyone. I can keep people lively. I have Jujitsu skills that I want to share. I like doing exercise.
