Chinese New Year

A vibrant stylized illustration of the Chinese zodiac Horse in dynamic motion, with a white background. include the text: On the Friday before half term we were treated to a superb assembly organised and directed by Miss Lee to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This will be the Year of the Horse! To celebrate this, Year 2 did some amazing artwork showing their horses. the children shared some beautifully constructed banners to celebrate the new year with popular phrases such as "I wish you good health" and "I wish you'll stay young always" - which was particularly popular amongst the staff. Reception shared the work they had been doing role playing as a Chinese restaurant and sang the Happy New Year song - Gong Hey Fat Choy, which taught us about some of the traditions of the Lunar New Year. Some children shared their names in Chinese and then the RRS Ambassadors showed us how this celebration links to the UNICEF Rights Charter. It was a great way to finish off the half term. Many thanks to the adults that helped organise it; the children who performed and the great number of parents who came to support!
